Enough!

We woke up this morning to see our walkway and driveway filled in with snow...again. It's really heavy snow this time and with the temps in the positives for a change it makes for difficult shovelling. Our snowblower is a bit tempermental, too. It worked the weekend before last, but last Friday it wouldn't start. Our neighbours have a friend with a backhoe who comes every now and then to plow our shared driveway for us. What a blessing! Right now there is a mound of it near the side door waiting to be pushed onto the back lawn. That was as far as we got it on the weekend! The kids look forward to this large snowpile in the backyard because it makes for some fun sledding. Usually it doesn't get big enough to sled on until late January, though.
The driveway is to the left of the big mound at the left of the photo. The walkway runs from in front of the front door at the middle of the house out to the sidewalk. It always fills in with blowing snow, but it's convenient for people parking on the road to get to the door so we try to keep it clear.
This mound below is at the end of our driveway, on our front lawn. Matthew is about 130cm (51") tall. Our neighbours have a similar snowpile on their front lawn. We can no longer see to get out of the driveway and have to do it with extreme caution, especially with the number of Mennonite horses and buggies using this road. The last thing I want to do is spook a horse!

Matthew enjoyed monkeying around in the tree on our front lawn. He can't even reach the branches on tiptoe in the summer!

This morning after a quick trip to the shops to pick up some tape (Adrian and I ran out while wrapping gifts last night), Matthew and I made a couple of small snowmen in the backyard and then Andrew joined us for a snowball fight. The snow was great packing snow on the surface, but under the first ten centimetres or so it was still the powdery stuff. We'll have to wait until later this afternoon for super packing snow!
Honestly though, I'm ready for spring.

Oh....I can just feel your pain. That *is* a lot of snow! Well...hopefully, you've had your whole winter's share already? (I know....not likely, but one can always hope lol). And....we've had the shortest day of the year, which means the days are getting longer and that means spring *is* just around the corner ...right???(ummm....trying to stay positive here lol).

Hope you don't get too much more snow .... and.... have a Merry Christmas!
