Lots of Snow!

On Sunday Adrian went out the upstairs front hall window to remove some of the snow from the porch roof. It was getting rather deep up there and with the warmer temperatures we were a bit nervous of water coming in through the windows! Many neighbours were out with roof rakes to clear some of the snow off their own houses.
This is our bedroom window - that was a LOT of snow up on the porch roof!
Between the snow dropped from the roof and the snow we shovelled off the driveway there was a terrific amount for making a cool snowfort right in front of the porch. Adrian helped pack it down and dig out some of the middle, as well as make a door. Matthew enjoyed staying in the middle making the inside a bit larger.
You can see how deep it is as Matthew is standing inside! We ended up with a lot of rain (our basement had water in it) overnight Sunday and Monday morning. The fort lost some of its shape, but then in the afternoon it flash froze so the entire thing is pretty solid now!

Matthew invited me to come inside the fort Monday afternoon after we had been out for a walk to the shops (we had been out before the flash freezing hit, walking along slushy sidewalks; on the way home we were slipping and sliding along the way and it was only about an hour later!). It was so cozy! The boys have enjoyed playing in it all week, especially Matthew, who has carefully made shelves to house his icicle collection! This fort is much nicer than the one we made in the backyard with the youth group.
